# Dataset IntroductionThis dataset is the original data for the research on "Adaptive Information Push and Attitude Polarization". It covers the preliminary material assessment and the formal experimental data. The specific generation process, processing methods, and content information are as follows:The dataset was generated during the material selection stage and the formal experiment stage of the research. In the early stage, 30 undergraduate participants were recruited to complete the material assessment, using two types of questionnaires ("News Clues" and "News Articles") to score the validity and controversy of the relevant materials on high-controversy topics. Stimulus materials that met the experimental requirements were selected. In the formal experiment, 168 undergraduate participants were used as subjects, divided into 4 groups (Group A - Text Adapting Group, Group B - Text Opposing Group, Group C - Video Adapting Group, Group D - Video Opposing Group) according to a 2 (Media Form: Text/Video) × 2 (Information Type: Adapting/Contradicting) between-subject design, with 42 participants in each group. Data on personality traits, emotional states, attitude scores, and evaluation biases of the participants were collected through an online questionnaire platform. During the data collection process, no special equipment was used, relying solely on regular computers and questionnaire filling terminals. The data processing tool was Excel, used for the entry, sorting, and preliminary organization of the original data.In terms of the time dimension, both the material assessment and the formal experiment were completed within the same semester. The duration of each data collection in the experiment was controlled to be within 30 minutes, and there were no spatial dimension-related data records, so no spatial information or resolution was involved. The data is stored in Excel file format, with a total of 6 files: 1. "01 Sequential Number_ Material Assessment Questionnaire - News Clues_30_30.xlsx", containing 30 records (corresponding to 30 assessors) and 30 columns of labels (including participant sequence numbers and scores for each dimension of news clues), with scores using a 1-7 Likert scale, without units of measurement; 2. "02 Sequential Number_ Material Assessment Questionnaire - News Articles_30_30.xlsx", with the same structure as the previous file, containing 30 records and 30 columns of labels, the content being the scores for each dimension of news articles, also using a 1-7 Likert scale; 3-6 are the formal experiment data files ("03 A Survey on Personality and Cognition (Group A - Text Adapting Group)_42_42 (1).xlsx", "04 A Survey on Personality and Cognition (Group B - Text Opposing Group)_42_42.xlsx", "05 An Experiment on Personality and Cognition (Group C - Video Adapting Group)_42_42.xlsx", "06 An Experiment on Personality and Cognition (Group D - Video Opposing Group)_42_42.xlsx"), each file containing 42 records (corresponding to 42 experimental participants) and 42 columns of labels (including participant sequence numbers, demographic information, scale item scores, etc.), where the scale items for personality, emotion, and attitude use a 1-5 or 1-7 Likert scale, and demographic information (such as age) is measured in "years".All data files have no missing values. During the data collection, functions such as mandatory items and logical jumps were set on the questionnaire platform to ensure data integrity. The data errors may mainly stem from the subjective biases of the participants (such as social approval tendencies), but the research reduced the impact of such errors through reverse scoring of items and random presentation of items, and there is no clear error range record. All files are in the common Excel format and can be opened and edited using regular office software such as Microsoft Excel and WPS Office, without the need for special niche software support.
