The project focuses on the impact of population structure on the functionality of mixed biofilm in aquatic ecosystems. More precisely, single-cell proxies will have to be determined for quantifying the degree of stability (and instability) of the microbial population inside the biofilm. The applied side of the project will be focused on new approaches for destabilizing biofilms in replacement of commonly used biocides.
