This dataset contains a balanced panel of 282 prefecture-level cities in China from 2000 to 2023, comprising 6,768 observations. It includes four core components: (1) Green total factor productivity (GTFP) measured by both the super-efficiency SBM model and the super-efficiency CCR model, with input indicators including capital stock (perpetual inventory method, 9.6% depreciation rate), labor (year-end number of employed persons in urban units), and energy consumption (electricity consumption); desirable output is real GDP; undesirable outputs include industrial SO₂ emissions, industrial wastewater emissions, and industrial smoke (dust) emissions. (2) Policy variables, including difference-in-differences (DID) indicators for National IP Demonstration Cities and Sci-Tech Finance (STF) Pilot Cities. (3) Socioeconomic control variables, including log GDP per capita, log financial development level, urbanization rate, log education expenditure, government intervention, and population size. (4) Mediating variables, including a resource misallocation index and the number of green patents granted (green invention patents plus green utility model patents). The dataset also includes historical instrumental variables (fixed-line telephones and post offices in 1984) and province-level spatial weight information for spatial econometric analysis. Data sources include the China City Statistical Yearbook, China Environmental Statistical Yearbook, and the patent database of the National Intellectual Property Administration. Missing values have been addressed using linear interpolation, forward/backward filling, and city-mean imputation, with continuous variables winsorized at the 1st and 99th percentiles.
