Forest belowground productivity and carbon allocation predominantly driven by soil properties rather than climate

This is a unique and extensive multiple-biome dataset of field-based measurements conducted over 40 years to test the questions posed for a manuscript examining the drivers of belowground net primary productivity in boreal and cold temperate forests. The dataset contains 21 soil and climate variables, and tNpp, aNpp, and bNpp data collected per site. The dataset describes 181 natural forest sites.
