Genomic selection for visceral white-nodules disease resistance in large yellow croaker

A total of 607 individuals and 46,039 high-quality SNP datasets were constructed and used for GS analysis. Different SNP panels and GS models were evaluated to select the most appropriate analysis strategy for VWND resistance and used to calculate genomic estimated breeding values (GEBV) for candidate populations. The top GEBV-ranked individuals in the candidate population were selected for the breeding of resistant strains (RS). The results of resistance evaluation experiments showed that there were significant differences in VWND resistance between RS and control groups. This study can provide a theoretical basis for disease resistance breeding of marine fish, and also provide experimental materials and data support for the upcoming further research on VWND resistance.
