We assessed the independent effect of delivery mode on infant gut microbiota, by postponing routine antibiotic administration to mothers until after cord clamping, in 74 vaginally delivered (VD) and 46 cesarean section (CS) born infants. Microbiota were characterized by 16S-rRNA-based sequencing (BioProject ID PRJNA481243). The microbiota of a subset of samples originating from 10 VD and 10 CS born infants were additionally characterized by whole genome shotgun sequencing.
