Panulirus ornatus individuals were injected with double stranded RNA, and pleopods' were sampled from the same individuals over multiple time points to identify novel genes involved in the RNA interference pathway and genes related to antiviral defence in lobsters. This has enhanced the understanding of the Decapod crustacean RNAi mechanism, and provides insights to develop gene silencing based biotechnology in P. ornatus.
