Recruitment of members from the rare biosphere of marine bacterioplankton communities after environmental disturbance: a salinity transplant experiment

The goal of the current study is to investigate what happens with the marine bacterial community composition and growth yield when salinity changes. Water samples are taken from Baltic Sea (low salinity) and Skagerrak (higher salinity). By using continuous seawater cultures salinity is gradually changed so that the Baltic Sea water approaches the salinity of the Skagerrak water and vice versa.
