This study investigates the impact of polybutylene adipate terephthalate (PBAT) microplastics on the rhizosphere microbiome of tomato plants (Solanum lycopersicum L.) and evaluates the remediation potential of the PBAT-degrading fungus Trichoderma guizhouense NJAU4742. We generated metagenomic datasets from rhizosphere soil samples subjected to four treatments: (1) control (CK, no PBAT or Trichoderma), (2) PBAT contamination (PB, 2% w/w), (3) PBAT with wild-type T. guizhouense (WT), and (4) PBAT with a cutinase-overexpressing mutant strain (OE). All treatments were replicated in both sterilized and native soils to dissect microbiota-plastic interactions.
