This study highlights the widespread presence and transmission of ESBL-producing Escherichia coli between humans and animals in rural Cambodia. The high prevalence of multidrug-resistant strains poses a significant public health risk, emphasizing the need for enhanced surveillance and control measures to mitigate the spread of antimicrobial resistance in low-resource settings.
