Supplemental Materials for Holm <i>et al</i>., 2025

We generated the first chromosome-length genome assembly of the Mountain bongo (<em>Tragelpahus eurycerus isaaci) </em>using 10X Chromium linked-reads and proximity ligation sequencing (Hi-C).<em> </em>We assessed completeness with BUSCO, annotation of protein-coding genes, and repetitve ccontent. We also assessed synteny with the domestic cattle and effective population size and demographic history using PSMC. We assembled and annotated the mitochondrial genomes of 4 Mountain bongo individuals to assess their phylogenetic placement among the western subspecies (T. e. eurycerus), an indivudal from the Congo (Central Africa) an other Tragelpahus species.
