Diversity of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi in the Rhizosphere of the Chinese Medicinal Plant Codonopsis pilosula 'Ludangshen'

Codonopsis pilosula is a plant used in traditional Chinese medicine ("Ludangshen") to treat shortness of breath and diabetes, and preparations of roots harvested from Pingshun County ("Pingshun Ludangshen") have been certified as a geographical indication of Chinese agricultural products. Previous studies have determined that arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) could promote the growth and development of medicinal plants, and affect the accumulation of secondary metabolites. We speculate that its medicinal efficacy is related to the beneficial microorganism AMF in the rhizosphere, so we try to explain it from the perspective of AMF in order to provide strain resources for the future development of AMF inoculation to promote the growth of Codonopsis pilosula and the accumulation of medicinal components.
