资源简介:
The purpose of an admission register was to record basic details about children admitted to the school, and about their parents or guardians. The registers were also used to record the progress of the children through various classes and the date of their leaving the school. The series is currently represented by a single volume.. This series contains information pertaining to each pupil including: date of admission; pupil's name, date of birth and religious denomination; name of previous school and date of leaving. The following details are recorded about the child's parents or guardians: name, residence and occupation. The pupil's date of admission to each subsequent grade and date of leaving the school are also recorded. The format of the volume makes provision to record any occupation entered into by the pupil on leaving school, but over time this column comes to be used rather to indicate the school to which a pupil may have transferred.Girls and boys are listed on opposite pages in order of admission, and numbered in two independent sequences from the beginning of the volume until the end of 1953. The earliest entries are dated in 1920, but all entries prior to October, 1927 are retrospective, having been transferred from the previous volume in the series; due to the present state of the extant volume, only 13 girls’ admissions have survived from this period. The numbering used in the present volume commences at the beginning of the volume, but these retrospective entries also bear the numbers which they had in the previous volume, entered in the left-hand margin and headed “Old Reg[iste]r.” From 1954 a new system of numbering is adopted; two new sequences of entry numbers are commenced each year, and the last two digits of the year-number are added to each entry-number as a suffix. From 1967 the boys’ and girls’ entries for each year form one sequence.Admission registers in paper format ceased in 1999 when the department moved to recording enrolment details in electronic format.
