To determine the function of the ATP-dependent DNA ligase Lig E in Neisseria gonorrhoeae, we generated a deletion mutant by replacing the central part of the lig E gene with a kanamycin resistance cassette. Oxford Nanopore sequencing was undertaken for both the mutant and wild-type to ensure that no other changes in the chromosome had occurred.
