Plucked scalp hair follicle samples are useful RNA sources for mRNA analysis of genodermatosis-associated genes

Using RNA samples extracted from plucked hair follicles and skin samples, we conducted comprehensive RNA sequencing and evaluated expression levels of 347 genes causative of genodermatoses. We extracted total RNAs from six skin specimens (non-lesional skin samples excised at the time of skin tumor excision) and five pulled scalp hairs of healthy volunteers.
