VPRS 14486 Schedules of Cases, Land (Crown Leases Adjustment) Act 1936

This series consists of the Schedule summary sheets for applications made for the adjustment of rents or the interest payable by a lessee under the Land (Crown Lease Adjustment) Act 1936.Details given in the Schedule sheets are the Code or application number, the name of the settler and the area and location of the land as well as its carrying capacity, the type of farming for which it was best suited and the percentage of the land which constituted a living area. Comprehensive details are given of the extent of the lessees liabilities, the amount in arrears and the equities held as well as the amounts currently being paid in rent or interest. Finally, verbal evaluations were given of the degree of equity held in stock and plant and in the remarks column, an evaluation of the settlers abilities and application. On the schedule sheets are also given the names of the committee members preparing the recommendations and the names of valuers and any relevant file or correspondence numbers.The Land (Crown leases Adjustment) Act allowed for Crown tenants to apply to the Crown Lands Adjustment Committee for a revaluation of the amount of rent or interest payable. Adjustments could consist of the whole or part of the rent being written off, that arrears be written off or that the period for which rent was due under a lease be extended and thus the term of the lease extended. Recommendations were made by this Committee to the Minister and the Treasurer after the matters listed in the Act were considered in relation to the application.The P2 consignment was previously registered as Units 1, 29 and 30 of VPRS 10190 / P Schedule of Cases.
