Enterprises worldwide use Climatiq's carbon calculation engine to incorporate emission intelligence into their daily operations and speed up their journey toward achieving net-zero emissions.
By integrating our Open Emission Factor Database with Snowflake, Climatiq allows users to analyze, report, and forecast their business emissions accurately and automatically using emission metrics. These calculations are based on the largest, scientifically vetted database of emission factors, which includes over 50,000 factors covering 300 global territories and all major economic sectors. The data in this database is sourced from governmental bodies and meets the standards of the GHG Protocol and other industry standards.
This sample only provides 20 random emission factors without any intelligent pre-processing of your activity data. The full database access covers 20k+ factors as well as unit and currency conversion, data mapping, and distance calculation capabilities.

Use cases for business carbon footprinting:
# Scope 1 emissions:
- Company-owned vehicles, e.g. cars, vans and trucks,

Expected Workflow for the full access
1. Define which activities to measure, e.g. business travel, procured goods and services, or cloud computing.
2. Locate the relevant activity data within your data lake, e.g. the information on your energy consumption.
Option 1
3. Climatiq shares the full Open Emission Factor Database with the user
4. The user identifies the relevant emission factors himself and uses them to calculate the emissions of the activities
Option 2
3. User shares this activity data (incl. the corresponding consumption parameters, e.g. kWh of energy consumed, and further metadata, e.g. the region and year of the consumption) with Climatiq via the data share
4. Climatiq selects the most relevant emission factor based on the activity type, region, and other metadata, converts units, currencies, or distances where appropriate, and shares the results back with the user via the data share
5. User stores the results to further use for analytics and emission insights.
Calculation results include:
- The overall emissions as CO2 equivalent (CO2e)
- Details of the calculation (chosen emission factor, metadata)
- Breakdown by individual greenhouse gas if available (e.g. methane)
- If applicable, interim results such as the calculated distance and route for transport
