Formation of hemiclonal reproduction and hybridogenesis in Pelophylax water frogs studied with species-specific cytogenomic probes

This study aims to investigate the transition from sexual to asexual reproduction in water frogs, particularly focusing on the hybrid species Pelophylax esculentus, produced from the mating of P. ridibundus and P. lessonae. Using low-coverage genomic data and chromosomal mapping, we identified a species-specific minisatellite marker for P. lessonae and applied it alongside an existing marker for P. ridibundus to track genetic processes in the F1 progeny.
