EPM 25208, EPM 25209 and EPM 25210 are held by IGO Newsearch Pty Ltd and with Moho Resources Limited EPMs 27193, 27194, 27195, 27196, 27197, 27198, 27199 and 27200, form the Empress Springs project, located 30 km south of Croydon, North Queensland. The JV holders consider the project area to have the potential to host world-class mineralised systems. The target is a large-scale deposit of epigenetic mineralisation associated with fluids derived from late granitoid intrusions emplaced into an area, which has suffered strong structural deformation over a long period.
An aggressive grassroots exploration program has resulted in the discovery of four zones of significant gold / silver mineralisation in basement lithologies (Arrowhead, Arrowhead West, Yappar and Wilson’s Bore Prospects). These discoveries constitute the discovery of a new mineral province near the eastern margin of the Carpentaria Basin. Work in the period has included a regional hydrogeochemical sampling program across the project area in collaboration with the CSIRO and funded via a Qld Govt Department of Resources, Collaborative Exploration Initiative (CEI) grant. Groundwater samples were collected from 32 sites, including wells and bores used for livestock consumption during August 2020. Technical evaluation of results has been undertaken by the CSIRO, the IGO Newsearch geochemist and a consultant geochemist. Strong gold anomalism is identified across the project area, showing a strong NW-SE trend which correlates with the major trans crustal structure previously interpreted by Dr Jon Hronsky - consultant to Moho Resources Ltd. Interpretation of geochemical results show highly anomalous tin, tungsten and molybdenum akin to a porphyry style intrusive geochemical signature.
Age dating carried out in 2019/2020 by Moho resources in conjunction with Curtin university has now been published in the Gondwana Research Journal,92, 54-71, (2021); “Mineralization proximal to the final Nuna suture in northeastern Australia”.
