These registers contain a summary record of all Homestead Selection tenures in the Land District of Hay, kept by the Hay Lands Office.The Homestead Selection tenure was introduced in 1895. Upon compliance with conditions, a perpetual lease grant could be issued to the lessee. The lease was subject to the payment of a perpetual rent, payable half-yearly.These registers record information such as the number of the Lease, name of applicant, holder or mortgagee, address of applicant, date of application, area applied for in acres, description of lease, rent lodged with application, date of transmission of papers to Board, date of investigation by Board, date of gazette, Capital Value, date of Protection Order, annual rent, appraised value and nature of improvements, date of notification of lease, transfers and any further remarks.
