The genome sequence of Ramularia colly cygni URUG2, the barley pathogen causing RLS

Ramularia collo-cygni is the causal agent of the Ramularia leaf spot disease (RLS) of barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) and single reports of other hosts. Despite having been described over 100 years ago, the biology of the fungus remains poorly understood but is attracting interest in the scientific community as a result of the increasing number of recorded economically damaging disease epidemics. The genome of a selected isolate (URUG 2) was sequenced as a reference for a future population genetic study. A focus is on the evolution of a dominating pathogen and the comparison to related Dothideomycetes.
