Relative Public-Speaking Fear and Prior Social Anxiety Disorder Diagnostic Recognition: Data and Analysis Materials

This record contains the data, preregistered analysis materials, and registered analysis outputs for a secondary analysis examining whether the relative prominence of current public-speaking fear is associated with a history of social anxiety disorder (SAD)/social-phobia diagnostic recognition among adults with clinically elevated current social-anxiety symptoms who report having previously received at least one professional mental-health diagnosis. The data were reconstructed from the source dataset originally collected for Stork et al. (2026), Process-Informed Psychological Profiles in Social Anxiety: A Multidimensional Person-Centered Analysis. The present secondary-analysis dataset contains N = 221 eligible participants. The preregistered primary analysis uses the N = 215 participants with complete ratings on all 24 LSAS-SR fear items, of whom 93 report a prior SAD/social-phobia diagnosis and 122 report prior professional mental-health diagnosis history without SAD/social phobia. Files include the public analysis dataset in CSV and XLSX formats, a README, a SHA-256 checksum manifest, the frozen preregistered R analysis script, the complete registered model results, and analysis metadata documenting sample sizes, technical checks, and the R session information. The primary public-speaking-prominence variable is constructed directly from the individual LSAS-SR fear items. Direct identifiers, original participant IDs, raw diagnosis text, and variables not required for the preregistered analyses have been excluded from the public dataset. Limited feasibility analyses conducted before preregistration informed the primary hypothesis. Before execution of the registered outcome analysis, the accompanying R script prospectively fixed the definitive operationalization, eligibility criteria, primary model, sensitivity analyses, and technical contingencies. Version 1.1.0 adds the exact post-registration analysis outputs generated by executing the frozen preregistered R script. No changes were made to the frozen public dataset or preregistered analysis code. Version 1.0.0 remains preserved as the pre-analysis record.
