日本全国の全世帯を代表するように選定された約4万世帯及びその世帯員。
就業状態は世帯員のうち15歳以上の者（約10万人）についてのみ調査している。
ただし、外国の外交団・領事団（随員及び家族を含む。）並びに外国軍隊の軍人・軍属及びその家族は除外される。

Approximately 40,000 households selected to represent all households across Japan, along with their family members. Employment status is only surveyed for individuals aged 15 and above within these households (approximately 100,000 individuals). However, diplomatic missions and consulates from foreign countries (including staff and their families), as well as military personnel and dependents of foreign armed forces, and their families are excluded.
