VPRS 12173 Minutes (Decentralisation Advisory Committee)

As part of post-war planning, the State Government established within VA 2717 Premiers Department a Division of State Development responsible for both development and decentralisation. This Division was under the charge of the Minister for either State Development or Decentralisation or both, although administratively located within the Department of the Premier. The major goal was the balanced economic, industrial and rural development of the State. A number of subsidiary Committees and agencies were established to investigate and promote development and decentralisation and provide advice to Government regarding these matters.This series contains the Minutes of the Decentralisation Advisory Committee. The Committee was a non-political one with its function being to advise the Government which placescould fairly quickly become thriving centres of industry and commerce and what particular stimulus would be required.
