This proposal investigates the catalytic performance and structural properties of Co(10-12) catalysts under industrially relevant Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) conditions. Using synchrotron X-ray techniques, specifically X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), we will study surface structure changes and species present on Co(10-12) catalysts during FTS reactions. Experiments will be conducted at elevated temperatures and pressures, simulating industrial conditions. This research aims to optimize catalyst design for improved efficiency and selectivity in hydrocarbon production. The findings will contribute to developing more efficient and selective catalysts for sustainable fuel production, providing valuable insights into the interaction between catalyst surface and reactants, and enabling the rational design of improved catalysts.
