Characterisation of Chemokine Receptor CCR1 and CCR2 Signalling in Monocytes

A central aspect of inflammatory diseases is the influx of leukocytes into the affected site. Chemokine and their receptors are key regulator of leukocyte recruitment. Given the complexity of the chemokine-receptor network, characterising it is critical for therapeutic interventions. In my doctoral research, I mapped out the signal transduction networks activated by chemokines in monocytes and discovered potential novel signalling mediators that are crucial for monocyte migration. These findings will provide a solid groundwork for future development of novel therapeutics for effective inhibition of monocytes recruitment in diverse inflammatory conditions.
