Effect of Indian gooseberry peel on rumen microbiota.

The following experiments were conducted to estimate the effect of Indian gooseberry peel on rumen methane reduction and its mechanism. An in vitro experiment was conducted using substrates mixture of concentrated feed and timothy hay. Two conditions were set for the substrate: High Concentration and High Roughage. There, Indian gooseberry peel was added to reach a concentration of 10% of the substrate and anaerobic incubation was conducted at 39 degree Celsius for 24 hours using rumen fluid diluted with artificial saliva and the amount of gas production was measured. DNA was extracted from the solid phase of the culture medium and analyzed for the microbiota using MiSeq.
