The diet fed to calves has considerable implications for the development of the gastrointestinal microbiota. To access the effect of different liquid diets on calves microbiota, Holstein calves were fed with different liquid and solid diets and sources of colostrum. The ruminal samples were collected at weeks 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10, and the fecal samples collected at birth (0) and at weeks 1, 2, 4, 8, and 10.
