Pregnancy is accompanied by significant anatomical and physiological changes in the mother's body. Among these changes, metabolic changes, including increased insulin resistance, hyperlipidaemia, and elevated fat accumulation, allow the mother to effectively and efficiently supplying oxygen and nutrients to the fetus. Adipose tissue is an important endocrine organ essential for systemic insulin sensitivity and energy homeostasis with or without pregnancy. The variation of individual cell populations and changes in gene expression in maternal adipose tissue remain unclear. The present study examines the variability of cell populations and gene changes in adipose tissue by comparing pregnant and non-pregnant mice using single-cell RNA sequencing analysis.
