Dimensions of biodiversity

The modeling of tree performance under in a changing world requires a knowledge of intra- and inter-specific functional and genetic (i.e. phylogenetic and genetic) diversity. We will integrate the three dimensions of biodiversity by: (1) quantifying how the fundamental tradeoffs that drive tree performance are related to functional, genetic and phylogenetic variation; and (2) linking intra- and inter-specific variation in tree performance to abiotic and biotic drivers that vary through space and time.
