Input and output Excel workbooks for the LCA Pipeline

This repository provides a compact, Excel-first modular LCA pipeline designed for prospective, IAM-integrated assessment of biomass and carbon-utilization systems. The workflow is organized as interoperable modules that pass harmonized, scenario-resolved datasets forward to ensure consistent propagation of assumptions across feedstock availability, conversion outputs, policy constraints, and impact calculations. The pipeline begins with a feedstock module that processes raw input workbooks into a standardized regional inventory aligned with IAM regional structure, then derives biogas-chain potentials including biomethane and associated CO2 streams. A dedicated scaling and capture step applies upgrading, leakage, or capture efficiencies to generate adjusted biomethane and carbon-flow datasets without rerunning upstream calculations. Policy comparison is implemented as an independent module that combines IAM-consistent supply potentials with policy targets and impact factors to diagnose feasibility and quantify policy-relevant indicators. Downstream modules generate technology-resolved inventories from all preceding outputs and compute prospective life-cycle impacts by linking inventory flows to scenario-specific impact factors, enabling transparent, reproducible comparisons across regions, years, and scenarios within an IAM-consistent modelling framework. This project provides a compact, Excel-centric life-cycle assessment (LCA) pipeline that takes feedstock inputs and produces scenario-based biomethane, policy-aligned updates, technology inventories, and final impact results. The workflow runs from M1_Feedstock (process raw feedstock data) → M1_A (compute biogas/biomethane and related gas-chain quantities) → optional M1_B_Carbon_Capture (apply carbon-capture/leakage scaling) → M2_Policy + Biomethane_Calculator (compare policy targets vs NG demand and recalculate consistent “updated M1” outputs) → M3_Technology (generate technology inventory tables per year/region/scenario) → M4_PLCA (combine inventories with impact factors to compute impacts).Access to the project source code is available upon request, please email sakh@igt.sdu.dk.
