In this study, 16 Chinese Holstein dairy cows were randomly divided into three treatments: a thermal neutral group (four dairy cows), a heat stress group (HS, six dairy cows) that was fed total mixed rations (TMR), and a BLF group (BLF, six dairy cows) that was fed BLF at a ratio of 1.3 g/kg TMR (dry matter basis) for a 42-d-long trial. Rumen microbiota were measured to investigate the effects of BLF feeding on heat-stressed dairy cows. For rumen microbiota, after being fed BLF, the number of bacterial operational taxonomic units in the rumen increased , and there was significant proliferation of Acinetobacter, Candidatus_Saccharimonas, Proteobacteria, Patescibacteria, and Epsilonbacteraeota, but suppression of Weissella and Firmicutes.
