资源简介:
Dynamic surface tension of semidilute polymeric solutions affects various engineering and biological processes in which area of the gas-liquid interface changes quickly with time. Well established devices to determine the dynamic surface tension are bubble pressure tensiometers. They detect maximum pressure in a gas bubble formed in a liquid during so called aging time. The classical explanation of dynamic surface tension assumes a gradual decrease in surface free energy with time caused by the diffusion of surfactant molecules from the bulk to its interface. However, measurements of semidilute polymer solutions show significant deviations from the monotonic decrease due to phenomena not yet investigated in detail. The main results of this work show that the apparent dynamic surface tension measured for a spectrum of polymer solution concentrations (Polyvinyl alcohol and Polyvinyl butyral) can be used to identify polymers involved, to obtain comprehensive information about the nonequilibrium phenomena occurring in the surface and subsurface of a growing bubble, to distinguish dilute and semidilute polymer solutions and to predict the spin-ability of polymer solutions by electrospinning. We anticipate that our work, as well as our hypotheses, will become a starting point for investigations and more sophisticated models of nonequilibrium hydrodynamic phenomena, in which new interface is created, macromolecules change abruptly their conformations and their center of mass does not move with the local solvent velocity due to chains overlapping.
