Hate crimes against LGBTQ+ people in Russia found in court rulings 2010-2023

We identified 1296 hate crimes against LGBTQ+ individuals in Russia by analyzing court rulings published by Russian courts. We used several sources of court rulings: official websites of Russian courts, as well as commercial platforms Garant and Consultant Plus. A keyword search in the texts of the verdicts helped us identify cases related to hate crimes. This database contains all the verdicts we found, indicating the articles of the Russian Criminal Code, the number of crimes, victims, and fatalities in each case, as well as whether the crime was committed by a group of individuals acting in premeditated manner ("hate groups"). Where possible, we also provided links to the full texts of the verdicts, with personal data redacted in advance. The archive contains all the texts of court rulings sorted by year. File names in the archive correspond to the "filename" column in the csv file.
