U.S. Shipyard Asbestos Exposure Dataset, v1.5

Citation-verified dataset documenting historical asbestos exposure at 37 major U.S. naval and commercial shipyards. Includes verified evidence records with primary source citations (PMID, NIOSH HHE numbers, EPA site IDs, appellate court citations), documented asbestos product brands, and geographic coordinates for each facility. v1.5 (July 2026): Added Moore Dry Dock Company (Oakland, CA) — Tier 2; 2 evidence records (Fleischer-Drinker 1946 USMC Pacific Coast survey + W.A. Simons Trust CA Site List Exposure Level H); 5 products documented. Added Sun Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company (Chester, PA) — Tier 3; 1 evidence record (Lilley v. Johns-Manville Corp., 408 Pa. Super. 83, Pa. Super. Ct. 1991); 6 verified products (Unibestos, Caltemp, Pabco, Kaylo, Garlock, Raybestos). Dataset now contains 37 shipyards, 99 verified findings, 87 products documented. Pacific Coast cluster now complete: Puget Sound, Long Beach, Hunters Point, Marinship, Moore Dry Dock.
