RNA-seq data of blue mussel (Mytilus edulis) whole muscle tissue in response to hypoxia, salinity, food availability

This research aimed to study blue mussels (Mytilus edulis) transcriptomic response of acute stress related to hypoxia, hyposalinity, and food availability (low, high). Mussels were from two sizes (adult, seed) and two sites from Prince Edward Island (Canada). Stress trials were completed in a laboratory setting and whole tissues were collected from mussels after each trial. RNA was extracted from the tissues and RNA-seq was completed on each mussel sample. Understanding how mussels initiate stress responses between different sites and sizes is important for bridging gaps in knowledge of stress responses and aiding in future marker development research in mussels.
