Digital Archive from an Archaeological Trial Trench Evaluation at Tees and Central Strategic Transfer Main Phase 2, County Durham, January-February 2024

This collection comprises images, reports, spreadsheets, and databases from an archaeological trial trench evaluation which occurred in advance of construction of the Tees and Central Strategic Transfer Main, Phase 2 in County Durham. This work was undertaken by Ecus Ltd in January and February 2024. Significant archaeological features representing settlement remains and associated enclosure systems were exposed in six fields and in 22 of the trenches, which predated the medieval/post-medieval agricultural practices. The features most likely represent the remains of prehistoric and/or Roman occupation of the area.
