Genome sequences of clinical and environmental isolates of Serratia marcescens. Serratia marcescens subsp. marcescens Db11

S. marcescens is an important nosocomial pathogen causing urinary tract infections, bloodstream infections, and many other types of infections. But, the pathogenicity of S. marcescens is yet to be fully understood. The emergence and spread of strains producing extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) or metallo beta-lactamase (MBL) and thus exhibiting a high level of multidrug-resistance have also posed a threat to public health worldwide. Here we report the complete genome sequences of two S. marcescens strains, a multidrug-resistant clinical isolate (strain SM39) and an environmental isolate (strain Db11).
