This project is a step towards addressing the broadest problem of modern biology - understanding the link between genotype (G), phenotype (P) and selection (S) in the wild. The wing spot-patterns of meadow brown butterflies (Maniola jurtina) on the Isles of Scilly represent an ideal model to interrogate the G-P-S nexus and here we are working on a hybrid assembly approach utilising Illumina, PacBio and MinION data.
