Biodiversity databases as underutilized resources for pathogen discovery: a quantitative synthesis of bat and rodent tissue collections in natural history museums

GBIF bat and rodent occurrence files for replicating analyses from "Biodiversity databases as underutilized resources for pathogen discovery: a quantitative synthesis of bat and rodent tissue collections in natural history museums" (https://doi.org/10.1101/2025.11.28.691153). Note that the data downloaded from GBIF has previously been modified by GBIF (e.g., taxonomic reclassification). To explore the utility of databases like GBIF for pathogen research, our study uses this GBIF-mediated data rather than the raw data submitted by institutions to GBIF.
