In this project, synthetic acid mine drainage and actual acid mine drainage were treated using sulfate-reducing bioreactors packed with combinations of spent brewing grains, sugarcane bagasse, limestone, basic oxygen furnace slag, or a mixture of lignocellulosic materials (Alfalfa hay, woodchips, walnut shells) including limestone and manure.
