This study examined the effectiveness of the Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) in enhancing vocabulary retention among 40 twelfth-grade students in a bilingual school in Thailand. Participants, aged 16 to 19, were selected based on their English proficiency levels (grades D and C). The study used paper-based multiple-choice vocabulary tests (pretests, immediate posttests, and delayed posttests) to assess vocabulary recognition. Black and white images were used to eliminate color as a factor, and an 'I don't know' option was included for accuracy. The analysis focused on immediate vocabulary acquisition and long-term retention. Paired-samples t-tests compared mean scores across different test stages. The results showed significant immediate vocabulary acquisition following the PWIM intervention, but no statistically significant differences in long-term retention between the immediate and delayed post-test scores.
