Synthetic Underground Hydrogen Storage Measurement, Reporting and Verification Dataset (SUHS-MRV)

This Zenodo record publishes version 2.0 of the SUHS-MRV dataset, a fully synthetic dataset developed to support early-stage Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) workflows for Underground Hydrogen Storage (UHS). Zenodo version v3 corresponds to the third archived release; the dataset content version is SUHS-MRV v2.0. The dataset represents cyclic hydrogen storage operations, including injection, withdrawal, storage balance, losses, cushion-gas behavior in salt caverns, potential methane co-production in depleted gas reservoirs, and compression energy intensity. Records are provided at daily, monthly, and annual resolutions, where the daily time step serves as a bookkeeping interval and does not imply daily operational cycling. All data are generated using deterministic, open-source Python workflows with a fixed random seed to ensure reproducibility. Values are illustrative and follow rule-based operational assumptions derived from publicly available literature rather than site-specific physics or operational measurements. Dataset fields are mapped to the Open Footprint (OFP) environmental data model and OSDU Well-Known Schemas (WKS) to enable schema-driven interoperability, MRV workflow prototyping, and digital integration testing across sustainability and subsurface data systems. The release includes CSV datasets, schema definitions, schema crosswalks, validation notebooks, and documentation. The dataset is intended for research, education, and data-engineering use cases, including MRV system development, schema testing, reservoir-type benchmarking, and exploratory hydrogen energy system analysis. It is not suitable for regulatory, financial, or site-specific engineering assessments.
