This data set consists of 20 recordings of multiunit activity from the Pontine Nucleus
and Inferior Colliculus of eight anesthetized rats using either TiN electrode with
8 tips or a twisted wire tetrode. The auditory stimulus used was white noise. The
stereotaxic location of the electrode in each recording, as well as electrode type
are provided. The data was used to model neural activity and to compare
the performance of the optimal Gaussian signal-in-Gaussian-noise (model-based)
detector to that of an energy detector which is widely used in electrophysiology.
