Rotavirus is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among young children living in resource-poor settings. Although rotavirus vaccination may lead to substantial reduction in infant mortality, the efficacy of currently available rotavirus vaccines is impaired in low- and middle-income countries. We performed a multi-centre prospective cohort study to examine the association between bacterial microbiota development, maternal antibodies, environmental enteropathy, and rotavirus vaccine response.
