Single-nucleus RNA sequencing of amygdala from sporadic autism patients

In order to identify cell type in the human amygdala and to analyze cell type-specific gene expression changes associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), we performed unbiased nuclei isolation and single-nucleus RNA sequencing of 5 amygdala from ASD patients and 5 matched controls. We were able to identify subtypes of excitatory neurons and interneurons, as well as glial cells, and profile ASD-associated transcriptional changes in each cell type.
