Preventive effect of chrysin on experimental autoimmune uveitis triggered by injection of human IRBP peptide 1-20 in mice.

Immunization with the epitope induced experimental autoimmune uveitis (EAU) in mice. Clinical and histological assessments were performed. Administration of the anti-inflammatory molecule chrysin exerted a preventive effect on EAU by modulating the balance among helper T-cell subsets and suppressing ocular inflammation (reduced expression of interferon-gamma, interleukin (IL)-17A, IL-6, IL-1beta and tumor necrosis factor-alpha).
