Aspergillus oryzae AS 3.863, similiar to A.oryzae RIB 40, was widely used for fermentation industry. There are notable phenotypic differences and uncertainties ahout the genetic diversities between them. The objectives of whole genome sequencing of A.oryzae AS 3.863 were to compare it to RIB40, for which genome sequence have been published. The genetic diversity between them was investigated, including single-nucleotide polymorphism, indel and structural variation. Aspergillus oryzae AS 3.863 strain was isolated in 1957 from natural soy sauce koji in Fujian Yongchun, China. A.oryzae AS 3.863 is the parental strain of AS 3.951 which is widely used in the whole Chinese soy sauce fermentation industry.
