Key results from collapse simulations of buildings with selected features (preliminary research to assess feasibility)

Selected results from collapse simulations based on the Applied Element Method performed as preliminary work in preparation for a research proposal. The results presented include simulations of: A reinforced concrete (RC) building structure without any building features (benchmark case): RC_00. A RC building structure with a shear core: RC_SC. A RC building structure with infill walls at one end of the structure: RC_IW. Simulations of the same initial failure scenario (involving the loss of 2 columns) were performed with these three models to obtain some insight on how each building feature (shear core or infill walls) could influence collapse propagation. The workbook (.xlsx file) contains one worksheet summarising the basic structural design of the RC building structure that is common to all three models, one worksheet summarising key simulation results, and one worksheet explaining each variable in the simulation results table. Images of the (partially) collapsed building structures at the end of each simulation from different perspective are also included along with the dataset.
