The proposing team has achieved important neutron Compton scattering results in the recent past on various samples containing H_2O and D_2O (i.e., fluid water, ice Ih, ice under strong electric fields etc.) measured on VESUVIO, discovering, among other things, the anomalous mean kinetic energy (_{H,D}) increase pertaining to H (or D) in supercooled water. This proposal aims at extending this research to the area of the H_2O+D_2O isotopic mixtures, where the H/D ratio can be used as a sensible handle to vary the system “quanticity”. In particular, we want to verify whether the _H variation with the temperature is simply dictated by the system density change or, conversely, more subtle quantum effects come into play following the H/D ratio of the supercooled mixtures.
